Create new note on Windows 10

Hello,

In my last article I wrote that ShixxNOTE is now Windows 10 Compatible and that you can find it on Windows Store. From Windows Store you can download 30-days trial version and you can also buy 25-Users License for 25.00 USD. If you didn't know that now you know. But there is one problem. When you install app from Windows Store and when you get program icon in your Windows 10 Start Menu you will get only small ShixxNOTE icon in taskbar located near clock. Also after you restart computer you must again start program from Start Menu. Old installation had put ShixxNOTE shortcut in your Start Up menu and you wouldn't notice that ShixxNOTE application is started.

If you install program from Windows Store you can do also everything for 30 days trial period. But on every computer start you must manually start program and click program icon or tile in Windows 10 Start Menu. Here is the picture of my Windows Start menu and ShixxNOTE tile.

Soon I will release on Windows Store new version which will start ShixxNOTE program on computer start up. I will announce that on program ShixxNOTE Program Homepage and here.
But if you had install program from Windows Store or you have install program from program download page and started program setup, I must explain to users how you will create new note.

When you start ShixxNOTE you will see Splash screen and then nothing. But you will get new program icon in your task bar located near the clock. Like on the picture bellow.

Many of my users doesn't know how to create note after they see splash screen they don't notice this small icon. Maybe in new version I will create some welcome default note. But if you want to create note you just need to double click on program icon. Second way to create note is to right mouse click on program icon and then you will get main program menu, from there you simply select option "New note". Here on the picture below you can see some previously created notes and main ShixxNOTE program menu.

I hope now first time users will know how to create note(s) and after that send them across your LAN in your office :-)

Sending email note

Hello,

Many of customers and users of ShixxNOTE 6.net program didn’t send email note. But recently one customer asked me more about sending note via email. So now I decided to write about how to send note via email. If you didn’t know when you open “Send note to” others dialog from note menu you get send note dialog. Program already read your network neighborhood and you can see a list of computer in your LAN in the left list. From that list you can select recipients from your LAN, but also you can enter in a text box above for example some email address like somebody@gmail.com and when you press enter that mail address will be added in note recipients list. Also you will see different icon instead of computer you will see small Outlook Express icon before email address. When you have finished adding recipients then you click on big “Send note” button.

I suppose that you will be asked by Windows Mail or Outlook if you want allow ShixxNOTE program to send email to mail recipients. You must click on button “Allow”. After that your email client will send ShixxNOTE note via email with all data in it and with picture of note as an attachment.

Now recipient will get in his Inbox new ShixxNOTE email message which looks like this picture (my mail client is Outlook).

You can see on both pictures what program sended. All data necessary for note creation and an attachment of note picture. But also you can see in a subject text of the email something like this “ShixxNOTE : Note from Ozren, OZREN-PC” which means that note was sended to you from user Ozren who works on OZREN-PC computer.

Before I had some problems with sending email notes and getting correct user name but now everything is working fine. After you received ShixxNOTE note you can click on ShixxNOTE main menu item “Check for email notes” (check previous posts to see how to get main program menu) and program will search your Inbox for ShixxNOTE program emails and will create exactly the same note as sender have sent to you on your desktop.

I hope you will use this option more now when you know how to send and receive ShixxNOTE email notes.

ShixxNOTE application is on Windows Store

Today I am announcing that ShixxNOTE program is now on Windows Store. If you have Windows 10 just click on the icon of Windows Store or write "Store" in your start menu. After that you will get something like this but some of the text will be on your language.

After that click on ShixxNOTE tile which will be under Applications like on image above. After you click on it you will get all info about ShixxNOTE application and you will be able to install it on your computer. It is full valid 30-days trial version. But now it will be installed from Microsoft Store and 30-days trial period will be checked also by Microsoft Store. Off course you can always click on Buy button :-) Price is shown in your current currency but it is 25 USD but now this is 25-Users License version also. Check the image below to see all I am talking about.



This is the day I was waiting. To show all of my potential customers that you don't have worry when you install program setup from program pages. Because then you get dialog saying that Publisher is Unknown and that you better click on "Don't run" button. You can read about this issue in previous post. Now after ShixxNOTE passed all tests from Microsoft you can download it and install it on your computer running Windows 10 from Windows Store.

ShixxNOTE is Windows 10 Compatible

Last month I did a lot of work with my program ShixxNOTE. I wanted my program to be listed in a Ready For Windows listing and to be Windows 10 compatible. I pay about 20 USD to be Microsoft Developer and I get access to Microsoft Dev Center. I must say that Microsoft support is really great. For my program I got two Microsoft support technicians.

Program one issue was to put ShixxNOTE program on Ready For Windows listing. I got support from Microsoft, his name is James Taylor. He guided me just for this program. I had to put Windows 10 Compatible Support Statement on my program site. So I added one more item in site menu, named it “Documents” and write there statement. I put Windows 10 Compatible Support Statement on my new web page and also I added link to PDF file which also contains same statement.

After I did what James told me to do ShixxNOTE was added to Ready For Windows list. You can see this on picture below. There are two results. One is ShixxNOTE as Desktop app and second is ShixxNOTE as Universal Windows App.

Second program was complex so I got support from Matteo Pagani who is Windows AppConsult Engineer. If I didn’t have him to lead me I would never gain Windows 10 Compatible logo and also made a new package for my program. That package story is long so I will just tell you that you must be patient and read a lot of help documents. I converted my MFC application written in VS C++ 6.0 to new Universal Windows application. That took me a week. Matteo Pagani helped me a lot. So I must say thanks to him. Matteo Pagani wrote me about 10 emails till I finished. Every question I asked he answered me promptly. I had to change my original C++ source code also prepare assets for my new ShixxNOTE package.

On the picture above you can see that ShixxNOTE is Approved for directory and Approved for logo. For me it was a journey. I learned a lot and finally I got Windows 10 Compatible logo. Here is the logo which I picked from few different ones.

ShixxNOTE has been tested to be Windows 10 Compatible. Only Windows 10 Compatible software has passed tests for compatibility on devices running the Windows 10 operating system. Windows 10 Compatible products install without worry and run reliably with Windows 10.

Program was published on DVD by croatian BUG magazine specialized for computers, gadgets and shareware programs. Back then BUG magazine rated my program with 10/10.
